Experiential Therapy
You don’t have to think your way into healing.
Experiential therapy offers a different path - one that starts in your body and moves toward insight, rather than the other way around. Instead of only talking about your experiences, we gently slow things down so you can actually feel what’s happening within you, in real time.
Why Choose Experiential Therapy
Experiential therapy go beyond talk therapy to create deep, lasting change.
When we grow up with difficult experiences, we often develop coping strategies that once helped us survive but no longer serve us as adults. Over time, these patterns become so deeply ingrained that they feel like part of our ‘personality’ or a sense of ‘who we are.’ Research suggests that as much as 80% of how we move through life is shaped by unconscious “attachment styles” formed in childhood and adolescence. These are wired into our nervous system, which is why simply trying to think or talk our way out of old patterns rarely creates lasting change - our brains naturally return to their “default setting.”
Does that feel familiar?
This is where experiential therapy makes a difference because we go beyond talk therapy to create deep, lasting change. The good news is that the brain is remarkably adaptable. Thanks to neuroplasticity, our brains can change and grow at any age -from the cradle to the grave. With the right support and methods, new patterns of safety, resilience, and connection can be built, leading to real and lasting transformation.
How Experiential Therapy Creates Change
We will guide you to slow down and tune inward, helping you listen to the wisdom of your body. You may begin to notice emotions you’ve learned to push down or move past. You may also encounter new internal experiences - ones that feel unfamiliar, but deeply important. When it feels hard to access your emotions - or when old patterns take over - we gently bring awareness to what’s happening in the moment, so you can begin to recognize and shift those patterns.
In this process, your therapist is not just an observer but an active participant - joining you in your struggles, co-creating safety, and building secure connection. We’ll gently explore the places you’ve had to turn away from (often for very good reasons), working to undo past wounding and aloneness.
What Therapy Modalities are Experiential?
Truth is, there are many bottom-up approaches. In our clinic, we draw from approaches such as AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Flash Technique, IFS (Internal Family Systems), Art Therapy, and Expressive Play Therapy/Sand tray Therapy. These methods are designed to help you not just understand your challenges, but to truly experience healing in mind, body, and spirit - supporting meaningful transformation that endures over time.
-
AEDP Therapy
AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) is a boldly relational, experiential, attachment-based, somatic, healing-oriented model. AEDP focuses on building emotional resilience, healing attachment wounds, and helping clients feel more connected to themselves and others.
-
EMDR Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based trauma therapy that helps the brain process distressing memories in a new way. Often used for trauma, anxiety, PTSD, and overwhelming life experiences, EMDR can help reduce the emotional intensity connected to painful memories and support lasting healing.
We trust that there is wisdom within you-
something already present that is not lost, only covered or protected - and that healing unfolds as that wisdom is given space to emerge.
Over time, this process can help you feel more connected - to yourself, your emotions, and your life - so that you’re no longer just getting through, but truly experiencing.
