Why Choose Experiential Therapy

Our clinic specializes in experiential modalities that go beyond talk therapy to create deep, lasting change.

We draw from approaches such as AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), IFS (Internal Family Systems), Art Therapy, and Expressive Play Therapy/Sand tray Therapy. These methods are designed to help you not just understand your challenges, but to truly experience healing in mind, body, and spirit - supporting meaningful transformation that endures over time.

How Experiential Therapy Creates Change

When we grow up with difficult experiences, we often develop coping strategies that once helped us survive but no longer serve us as adults. Over time, these patterns become so deeply ingrained that they feel like part of our blueprint. Research suggests that as much as 80% of how we move through life is shaped by unconscious “attachment styles” formed in childhood and adolescence. These are wired into our nervous system, which is why simply trying to think or talk our way out of old patterns rarely creates lasting change - our brains naturally return to their “default setting.”

This is where experiential therapy makes a difference. The good news is that the brain is remarkably adaptable. Thanks to neuroplasticity, our brains can change and grow at any age -from the cradle to the grave. With the right support and methods, new patterns of safety, resilience, and connection can be built, leading to real and lasting transformation.

What makes experiential therapy unique is that it works from the “bottom up.” In our sessions, this means starting with an experience in the body and allowing insights to emerge naturally afterward. For example, you may reconnect with emotions you’ve learned to bury or discover new feelings you may never have accessed before.

We’ll guide you to slow down and notice what’s happening inside, so together we can listen to the wisdom of your body. When old patterns arise and make it difficult to stay connected, we’ll help you recognize what’s happening in the moment.

In this process, your therapist is not just an observer but an active participant - joining you in your struggles, co-creating safety, and building secure connection. We’ll gently explore the places you’ve had to turn away from (often for very good reasons), working to undo past wounding and aloneness.
